Organizing Bathroom Vanity Cabinets

Bathroom vanity cabinets are usually one of the clutter zones in most homes. Filled with a wide variety of shower gels, and other products for pandering your body, they quickly become out of control. Yet, organizing bathroom vanity cabinets isn’t such a hard task!

The first thing you need to do is make a quick list of the kinds of items you have in there. Then see what storage you have for them and does it work.

For example, if you have one shelf that goes across the entire cabinet, but nothing else, it will be easy for the cluttered look to return.

Can you hang small baskets on the inside of doors? Maybe you need to have small baskets that sit on the shelf or shelves so that each area of products has its own designated basket.

If you can, hang these on little gold hooks that make the basket easy to remove when you want to use something in it – they are especially great for holding small items such as hair grips and nail scissors!

Women especially can benefit from using storage baskets in this area because of the amount of hair accessories, and make-up, that are small and easy to “lose” amongst the other products and bottles which find their way into bathroom vanity cabinets.

Once you’ve decided which product sections you need, and have some storage containers to help separate them, take everything out of the cabinet and place it on the floor in two piles.

One pile is for the things that you use, and the other pile is for things that you don’t. If you haven’t used a product in 6 months for any other reason than you already have a similar product in use, place it in the pile that isn’t used.

Any product bottle, box or container which is almost empty – or empty (it happens!), that goes in the unused pile – this pile is to be disposed of, so bag it and remove from the bathroom.

Place all the other items into the sections that you created earlier – hair, shower, bath, accessories, make-up etc. Clean the shelves in the cupboard and then place the items into an appropriate storage container and return to the cupboard. There you are, it’s done!

Bathroom vanity cabinets are easy to organize. With a little bit of planning and thought, your bathroom vanity can be the most tidy and efficient, clutter free zone in your home!
